News readerI was just wondering is there a way to view this forum using a Newsreader like Outlook Express? Using a newsreader is so much easier because you don't have to visit the website all the time and everything in the forum is right there. Let me know if this is possible.
Not that I'm aware of, sorry smicale.
If you have any suggestions at all for the forum structure / aesthetics, please let us know. I'm trying to make it as user-friendly as possible (by not installing modifications, eye candy, etc). Regards,

I think it is a great question, and eagerly await the answer myself
Don't understand all this new fangled stuff these days
Well, now I'm really confused I dragged the RSS symbol into my RSS reader .. and instantly got 10 discussion topics from the forum. But some haven't had any updated messages for days, some are recent. I'll play with this for awhile, but this seems a little odd.
Yes it does, Chuck. Right after I made a change to my wording above .. and you submitted a response, those both came through. So will see if all new messages start coming through and will report back later .. unless maybe Ron or someone else knows how this works.
Scott, the RSS feed is working. This should be what you are looking for, very similar to a news reader I think. Check out this thread

Thanks, Chuck .. I should have posted that here. I thought starting a new thread might get more input on the specific subject of RSS feeds.
The only problem (relative to what smicale was originally looking for) is that this only provides the latest 10 'topics' (I hope Ron meant the latest 10 'postings'), which means you could still miss lots of input unless your reader is downloading regularly .. particularly as things get busier on the forum .. so you'll never know whether or not you've gotten all the latest messages
If you make it 100 then it will still only download each post once right?
So the first download might be a killer but the following updates will be just what's new, or will it always download the most recent 100 even if you have them already?
Ron - my feeder is through my email (Thunderbird). If I set it to check every 30 minutes .. but DON'T have my email client open .. are they still getting downloaded? .. or if I don't open my email client for two days .. and there were 200 messages during that time, would I only get the latest 100? Not trying to be a pain .. just trying to understand how this works. I actually like the idea of just coming to the forum and clicking on the "view posts since last visit" .. that way I know I don't miss anything!
No, it shouldn't download when the software isn't running. Don't quote me on that, though.
And I do exactly that, just come in and view new posts. Easy ! Regards,
