Re: Cool Tricks & Hot Tips is on sale!I have received my copy of this book and I thought I would write a short review for the muvipix site.
Cool Tricks and Hot Tips is a great book. The layout that Steve has used is so easy to follow and the colour illustrations leave no doubt about what you need to do. Each trick has its own step by step instructions and colour illustrations to help you achieve your goal. I have previously struggled with trying to make a still photo come to life, but with Steve's help, I have managed to do this. One of the other cool tricks I was keen to try was to follow a moving person with a graphic. This is ideal if you want to give your friends animated faces or even blur someone out of the video. I highly recommend this book to all video enthusiasts, beginners, intermediate or even more advanced users. There are so many cool tricks and tips I am sure everyone will pick up something that makes their video editing with Premiere Elements so much easier and quicker. I know it has made my video editing a lot easier. Thanks Steve Helen
Re: Cool Tricks & Hot Tips is on sale!I ordered it, too, but a bit reluctantly because I use PE2 and PE3, don't plan to upgrade, and I wonder how logically the illustrations from a different interface will translate to these versions. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
There is a similar book for PE3 that's been out for a while, HOLLYWOOD is in the title, which I love but it doesn't have nearly as many tricks as Steve's book. So if I can figure out how to do it in an earlier interface, I'll be a happy camper! If not, well, I'll give it to someone using a newer version as a gift. Editor, Oregon Literary Review

Re: Cool Tricks & Hot Tips is on sale!I expect that you'll be able to figure it out, Charles.
Re: Cool Tricks & Hot Tips is on sale!Charles,
There will be a couple of things that you won't be able to do, the features are not available in version 3, but most you will be able to do just fine. Most everything is still in the same place and the timeline hasn't changed any. If you have any questions you know where to come 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: Cool Tricks & Hot Tips is on sale!Charles
I have Version 4 and I had no problems with Steve's book. Like Chuck said, there are a couple of things you can't do, but most of it is the same.
Re: Cool Tricks & Hot Tips is on sale!Version 4 was when the major changes came about, version 4 still looks a lot like version 8.
Version 3 is a bit different, but you should still be fine. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
