Talk about the advent of Drone photography and video.

I am not really a big night flyer (not too safe) but the June Full moon was really bright this year. So I got this shot. Camera is not really made for dark photos but this looked pretty cool.
June's Full Moon called the Strawberry Moon is named by the native North American peoples to mark the time when the wild strawberries start to ripen during June.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Sidd, but that's a pole light in your local shopping center parking lot...

I thought you couldn't fly drones after sunset and before sunrise (it could be 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise). Are you breaking federal law? Your drone could be shot down, I thought.

This discussion seems to indicate that an amateur can, but a commercial pilot needs a waiver: http://community.uavcoach.com/topic/344 ... -at-night/

After looking through the FAA website on Drones there are clear guidelines for commercial pilots but not much in regard to hobbyist or non commercial pilots which I am. The rules are laid out in section 107 of the UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Section).
Part 107 Operating Rules Unmanned aircraft must weigh less than 55 pounds, including payload, at takeoff Fly in Class G airspace* Keep the unmanned aircraft within visual line-of-sight* Fly at or below 400 feet* Fly during daylight or civil twilight* Fly at or under 100 mph* Yield right of way to manned aircraft* Do not fly directly over people* Do not fly from a moving vehicle, unless in a sparsely populated area*

Civil twilight -- Ok, that's something we can hang our hats on. Civil twilight is defined as the time between when the top edge of the sun is just below the horizon (i.e. Sunrise or Sunset) and when the center of the solar disk is 6 degrees below the horizon. That varies by latitude and date. For San Jose CA on June 27 of this year, Civil twilight would have been about 8:32 pm to 9:03 pm. Side note: I like to shoot photos around that time of day and have an Android app called Golden Hour on my phone to find sunset and twilight times to plan ahead for future photo outings. Some interesting information. While most FAA rules apply only to professional pilots not to hobbyist's. But fear not the hobbyist's are represented by the AMA: The Academy of Model Aeronautics. On March 23, President Trump signed the omnibus spending bill into law, which includes a six-month extension of FAA authorization, funding the FAA through September 30, 2018. This extension means the Special Rule for Model Aircraft (Section 336) will remain intact and our members can continue to fly under AMA’s set of community-based safety guidelines
For night flying it states the aircraft must have lights and the operator must maintain a line of site at all times. Still doing some more research. Sidd
