Discussions concerning Premiere Elements version 1 - 4.
by LarryGB » Wed Feb 09, 2011 7:57 pm
I just finshed a live chat with the sales folks over at Adobe. I had purchased the above bundle, and was not aware that there was a downloadable manual in PDF for the products. Now I'm being told they no longer "sell" previous versions, which I checked is still in my account, and available for download, but whith no reference to the manual download. The built-in manual is somewhat helpful, but I understand the full manual [which used to be downloadable] is much more extensive than that which is built in. Because it was a download bundle, and not a purchased disk set, am I out of luck in trying to obtain it? No it was not in the download pkgs. Has anyone else experienced this? Now that I have time, I would like to learn the bundle, and am having issues with understanding project settings, image sizes, export and movie output settings, that seem to work well together. I don't want to have to buy a new product [and associated H/W to run it] to use what I think is a capable product for my needs.
Thanks for you consideration...

Hi Larry, Welcome to Muvipix The online help and pdf files for older versions are removed by Adobe, a way to get you to move to the next version I suppose. We have lots of tutorials on how to use the products, many are free so check them out. http://muvipix.com/products.php?subcat_id=44There isn't much difference between version 4 and 7 so take a look at tutorials for both versions. As a matter of fact version 4 is still very similar to the current version also, so the basic training series will still mostly apply. If you have any questions you've come to the right place.

Thanks for the suggestions. Bought the book, browsed the forums, d/l Adobes guides, and resumed my testing. More enlightened now, and ready to forge ahead. More questions to come....

Dear Larry, I too own Premier Elements 4 and Photoshop 6, which I purchased in a boxed set years ago in Staples. If you are talking about the 296 page PE4 manual and the 458 page PSE6 manual called USER GUIDES, I have the PDF files on my desktop. If you would like a copy I can burn to a CD and mail to you. I don't think I can email them because PE4 is 21.6mb and PSE6 is 36.6 mb. If you would like a copy maybe Muvipix could email me your address. I don't know how this stuff works through a forum like this. I don't want to be invasive to anyone. Maybe I could mail them to Muvipix and they could add to their site. If you are interested let me know somehow. Hope this helps. This site has been a WONDERFUL source of info for me, and very generous with their help. If I can help someone else in return I would be more than happy to. Regards, Aliza

That is a very thoughtful thing to do Aliza You could upload them to the Gallery and Larry could download them from there, just an idea.

In the menu to the left you will see 'Gallery'. Click the link and that will take you to the Muvipix Gallery. It is much like many other photo sharing sites, you create albums and share them with family and friends. The albums can be public or private and can be password protected. For this you only need a public album. Once in the Gallery you will notice a menu at the top of the page, click on the "Create / Order My Albums" button. That will take you to a page where you will create a new album, click on the 'New' button and then add a name. Then click on the "Apply Modifications" button and click Yes in the box that pops up, you have now created an album in which you can add stuff. Back on the main menu page now click on the "Upload File" option. That will bring you to a page with the option to upload 5 items, just do one for starters. To the right of the first box press the "Browse" button and find your PDF file, when you find the file click the "Open" button. Then click the Continue Button and the file will upload to the Gallery. This may take 5 - 30 minutes depending on your connection. Once the file is uploaded you will get another Continue Button to click and from there you will add the file details and what Album you want to put the file into. Select your Album, a title and a description, then press Continue. You should then get a message saying that the file was placed successfully, that's all there is to it. After you do a few of these it becomes really easy. If you have any problems just let us know

Hi Chuck, I just tried to upload the pdf manuals to your Gallery, I got as far as the download, the green bar moved all the way across, but then a notice came up saying I was not authorized for this function. What did I do wrong? I was logged into Muvipix, do I need to register for the Gallery also. Aliza

Hi Chuck, Yes, I did mean upload, sorry. I tried again and all went well. I have uploaded each manual to an Album by their names. Can you check it out and see if its actually there and obtainable for the members. Thanks, Aliza

Yes, they seem to have uploaded just fine, thank you. Here are the links to the files http://muvipix.com/cpg/displayimage.php?pos=-3683http://muvipix.com/cpg/displayimage.php?pos=-3682If you go to each item in the gallery, right click on the PDF link and select "Save Link As" you can save the files to your computer. Not sure if they will open from the Gallery but you can save them to your computer. Thanks again Aliza

Thank you Aliza for your persistence. I have downloaded both, and they are intact. Excellent. Thanks Chuck & Muvipix.com for your presence, as a clearinghouse for users to come together, and share. Am wrapping up the last bits of our vacation video, and rendering to DVD. With all the help and insight on this forum, you have renewed my desire to continue editing, and will be exploring the HD side of things. Look forward to more questions and help from the forum. Thanks again... Larry
