Is there a way to change the screen black background for my title to another color?

You can add a color matte behind the title on a lower track :)
there is a free tutorial on using/adding a color matte

Usually, the first thing I do when creating a title is to grab the rectangle tool and just create a big rectangle larger than the viewing area, color it, and then send it to the back of the title. Lots of color choices and blends. The only exception is when I want the title background to be transparent, in which case I do not create the rectangle.

I have done what Bobby suggests which is create a colored rectangle and the title on top.
But as the rectangle is considered part of the text, when I choose the crawl option the rectangle and the text crawl together... leaving behind the black background screen.

I am looking at the gallery Chuck suggested. I haven't found one I can use for my purpose. I guess if I do, I can download it and will be able to import it into my project.

But what I am after is a still colored background.
Do you think the only way is to insert an image behind it?

Have you tried the Color Matte?
it is really quick and easy, unlimited color options and it will fill the entire background.

The tutorial is named "ib-Color Matte", it is on the page I linked to above.

When I want a little more than just a plain background, I go online looking for 'desktops' .. then look under 'abstract' if that category exists, and they've often got some nice colored backgrounds with a little variations. However that does often require a lot of looking.

Digital scrapbooking sites that offer free stuff is also a good source for backgrounds.
