The 30 minutes is more than likely an file size limitation. But I can't be sure. According to docs on your unit below, looks like you could not have a 1080P clip longer than approximately 12 minutes before you reach the file size limitation. While I tend to film in small snippets, this would never work for a school play, or a sporting event. So now I understand better why you are looking for another video camera.

P.S. The 20 fps for 1080p will likely give you the rolling shutter effect too easily. Another reason for a dedicated video camera.
