I thought audacity might do it but I can't seem to find a way. I tried a few programs from download.com like "soundcapture 1.01" It just crashed ... "freesound capture" that program also crashed ... LOL

Re: sound capture from speakersHi Joe,
First be sure your audio card driver is up to date. Realtek Audio can be a real pain when it comes to stuff like this and doesn't always work. So if you have RealTek audio that is probably your main problem. Audacity should work fine, you have to select "what you hear" or "stereo mix" as your source. You also have to make sure that the those same sound options are not being muted. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: sound capture from speakersFor anyone looking to learn how to do this there is a 3 part series on recording with Audacity available to subscribers

Re: sound capture from speakersI've always used Total Recorder from High Criteria. http://www.highcriteria.com/productfr.htm
I usually uninstall it after I'm finished using it because it may interfere with some apps.
