I was asked to transfer a VHS tape to digital. It has been about 10 years since I used the PYRO. Good thing I had notes to myself on how to set up because it took me a few minutes. I did have a problem in PrPro in the capture window. It is set to HD as default and after setting it to DV everything works fine.
I could quickly give them a VHS to DVD in the Panasonic combo, but they wanted it on a flash drive. What file format would you recommend?

MP4 is definitely the universal language for video today.

Thanks for the replies! I encoded as you all suggested. 12.6 GB file. The tape was over 3 and 1/2 hours with the last 45 minutes was a movie they had previously recorded. Tape had a lot of static at the beginning.

Posted too soon. Problem! The flash drive is 64 GB. When I try to transfer it to the flash drive I get a warning the file size is too large for the destination.

Mom is it a new flash drive, and is it formatted to FAT32? As I recall FAT32 format only allows 4GB. You might try formatting the flash drive to NTFS to make sure it is all empty. And can accept the file.

I'm sure that's it Sidd. I think on Windows Mom would get two 32GB partitions when formatted to NTFS, but I haven't done it in awhile.

Thanks Sidd & Ed. The flash drive may be formatted as FAT32. When you mentioned that I looked up the particulars and the 4GB limit. I decided to export the project in 5 parts keeping everything under 4GB. The person I am giving this to is giving as a gift and possibly more family members may want the file. They could have the same 4GB limit problem and exporting in 5 clips would resolve any problems they may encounter.
Funny how not that too long ago VHS or taped based was the norm. Capturing time was the time of the tape. Now with SD cards it zips right over to your computer.

Glad you worked it out Mom. On a side note, did you get Mr. Mom's Yashica Electro 35 up and running and take photos? I have one coming to me by early next week from https://www.etsy.com/shop/Japanvintagecamera?ref=seller-platform-mcnav. My first two attempts a few years ago were unsuccessful because the electronics were dead. Hopefully the third time is the charm, not that I need another old film camera

The converted battery for the camera arrived finally. Put it on a shelf next to the camera and forgot about trying it out. I was gifted 2 vintage 8mm film movie cameras. One has film inside. I made a miniature scene with the Brownie and may make one with the grands for miniature series. Green Men Films by Cheryl, on Flickr

Me too. Are you planning to shoot and edit film through the cameras Mom?

Thanks! The spot light was a flash light held above the scene. Mr Mom helped me by holding the flashlight and moving it several times to get the effect I wanted. ed wrote:Me too. Are you planning to shoot and edit film through the cameras Mom?
No. I don't know if the cameras actually work. The person that had it before used it as a display. I can't keep up with my digital media cache!
