Re: Analog PhotographyI still use this old technology, but it's a little more current then your rig Sidd. This is the best camera, I believe, for backpacking. It weighs nothing, but takes great photos. I still use it.

Re: Analog PhotographyEd those Canon Powershots are really nice little cameras. I think we have a PS1300. The kids used it but it was just too powerful for me... lol

Re: Analog PhotographyBought this medium format (120mm) point and shoot camera from a woman in Denmark for $16 awhile back. It's from the mid 1960's and wasn't sold in the US market. It's 3 zone focus; I like the infinity image of mountains and a church. The lens is OK, but top shutter speed is 100, so you can't use anything over 100 ISO. It does have a bulb setting though. Here's a photo I took in Thurmont Maryland with it last week. https://flic.kr/p/2kvYiUo You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Analog PhotographyI bought a Yashicaflex B awhile back from a gentleman in Japan, mine is from the early 50's. I don't think this model was sold in the US. It is in excellent shape and takes very nice photos if you get the lighting right. The max shutter speed is 300, which is good for an old medium format film camera.
I haven't used it in awhile, so loaded it with Ilford Delta Professional 100 film last Saturday and took some photos. I forgot that the mirror image when you look down at the screen is a little off because the focusing lens is above the lens , but next time! Here's a few photos I took at the model airplane park in Boyd's MD. https://www.flickr.com/photos/191701385@N08/shares/Z6B36A https://www.flickr.com/photos/191701385@N08/shares/964GTS You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Analog PhotographyBlack and white photography is an art in itself. Very nice Ed. That's a cool plane. We have a local model airplane club that has a flight day exhibition for the public once a year but I always seem to hear about it after it's over. Congrats on your new old camera!

Re: Analog PhotographyThose are cool shots Ed. Something about true black and white pictures makes anything seem pretty elegant.

Re: Analog PhotographyThanks, I love black and white film shot on old cameras. There is definitely a different feel to the images.
That model park is fun, and I was told they have a drone area too, but the gates are locked unless a club member is there. On the weekends it's busy, and some of the planes are really almost works of art, especially the WW II style planes. As the weather gets warmer I'm going to take my 'good' camera there and try to get some cool pics.
Re: Analog PhotographyCool camera ed! I found a Yashica recently that was my husband's from the 60's. I ordered a battery with an adapter from the Yashica Guy. Haven't tried it out yet. I'm waiting until summer to use a roll of film I've had forever.

Re: Analog PhotographyCheck the light seals on the camera Cheryl, they may need replaced. It's easy to do, and there are a lot of guides on the internet by model to review. Also, if it has a meter, which I assume it does because it has a battery, download a free light meter app to see how accurate it is. And of course, post some photos!
Re: Analog PhotographyAnother alternative to fixing the light seals is to put black electrical tape around the camera door after loading the film. You can check the camera works before bothering to replace the seals.

Re: Analog PhotographyGood idea Ed to check the seals. It is a Yashica GSN Electro 35. If my roll of film is a dud then I'll have to get a roll from the camera store. They develop film too. I don't have a meter and planned on checking the settings with my Fuji XT-4 to see if it reads the same. The camera has a case and maybe it would be good to use that to help with any leaks.

Re: Analog PhotographyThat is an awesome camera with a great lens. 1.7 I think. I bought one about 10 years ago but the electronics were shot. I would shoot Lomography color 100 through it and really get that 60’s 70’s look.

Re: Analog PhotographyI'll look for that when I order film. I really like the look of Fuji 400h. I use that profile for some of my digital images.

Re: Analog PhotographyI was out taking photos a few weekends ago and stopped by Saints Row Brewing to pick up some beer. Saw this great old Pontiac LeMans in the parking lot.
I used my favorite black & white film stock for this, Adox Silvermax 100. It has a very high silver content, so you get a large range of grays in the photos, and some very nice contrast. If you use this film be warned that unless you develop it with their developer it's really not worth the extra cost over Kodak T-Max.
