User discussion concerning all that's Photoshop Elements (all versions).
by prkraus » Fri Mar 18, 2016 5:57 pm
Hello,
I have designed a DVD label in Photoshop Elements 13. I have tried to it print directly onto a DVD with my Canon Pixma Pro 100 printer using the DVD tray (K).
The imaged printed is not properly aligned with the DVD in the tray. The hole printed about 2 1/4" behind and 1/4" below the hole in the actual DVD.
How can I fix the print parameters so that the image aligns and prints fully onto the DVD?
Thanks.
Paul

Is your printer driver up to date?

Thank you both. I downloaded the new driver and it had no effect, though it is good to have the latest driver. I also looked at the Canon website. I found a program, AudioLabel, that has a template for the Canon Pixma Pro 100. I made a jpeg of my project, inserted the image, and it worked perfectly. I have to go back into Photoshop and reposition a few things because the hole is larger on the AudioLabel template than on the Photoshop template. Thanks again.

I've always used either SureThing or LightScribe for my labeling.

I use Acoustica: http://www.acoustica.com/cd-label-maker/Their support is great. They respond to requests for templates for unsupported printers quite often with a new template.

Yup, another good alternative for labeling. I've always heard good things about Acoustica Bob.

Acoustica will do that. They have a trial version.

Chuck, didn't you once make a Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements, template available here for case inserts? I thought I had one but went looking for it and can't find it.

I think that was a DVD label template, but I may be misremembering. In any event, jewel case templates are pretty standard and there are loads of free ones on the internet. You print them on a standard printer and trim to size. I've seen them in Photoshop PSD, Word, Open Office, and PDF formats among others. The standard jewel case needs two inserts, the cover, and the tray. Some templates files have both while others are separate files. Be sure you get both parts.

There are two main types of dvd case. The Jewel case which has a two piece (cover and tray) insert and the standard that has a single insert that wraps around the cover. Mom's template is for the standard case.
I had some Memorex cases at one time and I think the ones I had were the jewel case type. I haven't done a Google search to see if Memorex also made a standard case.
Either way, lots of templates are available. Just be sure to download the correct one for the type of case you have.
