DVD burn fail

DVD burn failI have successfully burned a DVD only 2 times in about 30 attempts. Usually DVD Architect Studio stops when it times out. I am using a LG external drive, model BE14NU40, connected via a USB 3 port. I suspect there may be an issue with this drive vis-a-vis my laptop. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have any suggestions? Since it has worked twice, I know that it can work.
Re: DVD burn failHi Gortang, Welcome to Muvipix
Are you burning the same movie or have the two successful attempts been different projects? How long is the video you are trying to burn, in minutes? What type of DVDs are you using? 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: DVD burn failWelcome from me too.
I am not familiar with DVD Architect Studio but, if it is possible, can you write the DVD image to a file(?) and if so, try using ImgBurn** to create the physical DVD. Let us know if that worked. ** ImgBurn is free and a lot of us here use it. http://www.imgburn.com/ AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.
Re: DVD burn fail
You can. It's the "Prepare" button. That's my workflow, exactly.
Re: DVD burn failThe successful burns were different videos, both short. It has failed on long videos and short. I am using DVD-R.
Re: DVD burn fail
One thing that might cause a burn failure is a small gap - even just one frame - in the timeline of the video. Re: DVD burn failWhat brand of DVD -R are you using, some brands are notorious for failures. Also check for any firmware updates for your burner. The suggestion to use ImgBurn is a good one, as a test if nothing else.

Re: DVD burn failI am using Memorex DVD-R, which may be part of the problem. I will try a better brand. I will also try your other suggestions. Thanks.
Re: DVD burn failI've been using Verbatims (8X) with the AZO dye (not the value line).

Re: DVD burn failI'm with Peru and John. I always create a Prepared file, burning the disc image to files, rather than burning directly to disc and then I use ImgBurn to burn those folders to a disc. (We've got tutorials on how to do this on our site.)
There are a number of advantages to doing this. For one thing, ImgBurn has a "verify" option that double-checks your burn to make sure there wasn't a flaw in the disc. But the main advantage is that, if you're having problems, breaking down the process into separate steps helps you isolate and troubleshoot your burn so you can find out where things are going wacky.
