work flow with HD

Postby hpharley90 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 10:39 am

When I was working with DV-AVI in Premiere Elements 2.0 I would export the clips(the ones using multiple video tracks) so as not to make a mistake and then bring it back into a new project (DV-AVI ) as only one video track. I really like working like that. Just working with small sections at a time.

I just finished my first somewhat large project using seven video tracks at certain points. (1280x720 video HD)
I found it difficult working with many tracks when I wanted to change or add something.I would like to have been able to export multiple tracks and bring back in as one track. To me there are many possibilities to make mistakes.
I would like to be able to use the old work flow but with the different HD file extensions (AVI,M2T etc) I don't know what to do.

Can someone help me with work flow with HD?
Thanks
Richard

What do you ultimately plan to output your finished video as? A DVD? A BluRay? A YouTube video? Video for a portable devcie like an iPod or iPad?

We'll need to know what you're ultimately trying to produce before we give you specific advice.

In my books, I show you how to output short segments of your video in order to combine them in one final mix project.

This particular project I output to DVD.

When I do mine from my HV40 I will out put to BluRay.
Thanks

Here's what I say in my books:

For DVDs and standard definition video, use Share/Computer/AVI with the DV preset. These files will load perfectly in a project set up with the DV project settings.

For BluRays and other high-def video projects, use Share/Computer/AVCHD using the preset for a M2T H264 1920x1080i 30. Video output from here will load into a project using the Full AVCHD 1920x1080 project settings.
