preview "stutters"

Postby jerrymcgeeoc » Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:38 pm

when working on a project, it seems if I add one or more titles, still or roll, when reviewing in the project window the video skips/stutters when it reaches the titles. dell e6520/8gb ram/windows 7 pro sp1

Hi Jerry, and welcome! :wcm:

Pressing the Enter key renders the timeline and should solve the playback issue. After rendering the video will automatically start playing from the beginning. If you don't want it to play after rendering there's an option under Edit > Preferences > General for "Play work area after rendering previews" that you can uncheck. Note that even after rendering the video will probably not look at good as it will in your finished project, for example when you burn it to DVD.

Also, make sure your project is set up correctly for your video!

What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?

Make sure that, when you start your project, you choose the project settings for Full AVCHD 1920x1080 Stereo.

And be sure to use Premiere Elements' Video Importer (under Get Media/From Flip, AVCHD and Hard Disk Camcorders) to get the video from the camcorder to your computer rather than, say, using Windows Explorer to merely copy the files.

Technically, this is a professional-style camera and should be edited with professional software, like Vegas Pro or Premiere CS6. But, if it uses standard consumer AVC codecs, you may be able to edit it in Premiere Elements.

thank you, I always to import using "get media" but I get it from the SD card inputted into PC. I have cs6 but am afraid to delve into that without getting the basics down first, I thought elements would provide the ground work for that. Im not making hollywood videos, just doing simple editing and text for small municipal govt. I work for, to play on our govt. access television station and on our website.

Thank you again for the info, this is helping tremendously.

So Jerry, did rendering solve the issue, or is it going to be more complicated than that?
