Unable to apply stock templates

Postby dberthia » Sat Aug 25, 2012 2:49 pm

I just started having a strange problem. For some reason I'm unable to apply any of the stock Adobe templates to my projects. When I drag and drop any of the templates to the panel on the left side, nothing happens. Even if I create a new project and start from scratch, I cannot apply a template. Anybody know what might be happening here?

Hi Dave, Always great to hear from you :)
Hope all is well in Gopher country, haven't been back to Minnesota in a few years.

Are you talking about Themes, DVD Menu Templates or something else?
Under preferences you can clear the cache, that might be worth a try.
I'm sure someone has been through this before and will share their wisdom with us before long.

Hey Chuck- Things are great in Minnesota (unless you're a sports fan).

I'm talking about the DVD Menu templates. I'm suddenly unable to apply any of them, when they all worked a couple of months ago. I tried clearing the Media Cache Database, but that didn't help. I'm wondering if I need to do a full reinstall, but am hoping to avoid that.

There are a couple of possible solutions, not requiring a full uninstall and then reinstall.
If you go to Add Remove Programs and click on Premiere Elements 10 you should get an option to Repair, try that.
You may need to insert the original install disc but should not take too long. The other option is to try just installing the additional content from the install disc again. Just installing the additional content (which includes many of the DVD Templates and Themes) should be one of the options on the install disc. Let us know if either of these solve your problem :)

Well, first I tried reinstalling the content, but that didn't work. I decided to just bite the bullet, uninstall everything, then do a full reinstall. That seems to have taken care of the problem. Thanks, Chuck!

Glad that worked Dave, that usually seems to work when all else fails.
You shouldn't have lost anything during the process :)
