Slash Key

Hi guys. We today I made some progress; I finally installed PRE10. I know I haven't been too active lately, lots of issues. I had originally intended to get a new video editing PC and install on that, but I just am having some trouble justifying the expense. So I installed on my old PC for now.

EDIT: deleted stupid question

Thanks!

Good to hear from you Bobby. I'll be very interested in hearing your impressions of PrEl 10.

Sounds like an adventure in the making Bobby. I thought you said that you were an iPad user because Avid has an editing app for the iPad for $5-$8. You might be able to save some money... :)

Hi guys. I am almost always around, I do keep an eye on things here.

I had already purchased PRE10 (last year), just didn't get around to it.

The major disappointment with the iPad is not having a true file system. I do use an app called Photo Folder to display my stills, and the Video app for videos, but the flexibility and sync options leave a lot to be desired.

But that does bring my focus to the new video editing PC problem. Since I use the iPad for almost everything else (like this email) it is getting harder to justify the cost of a new video PC for just that one purpose. I need a big job or commission, I guess...

My first impression of PRE10 is good. I have had no problem finding things so far, although I have just been playing around. One thing I did try was the Vimeo HD preset for MP4 output and that seemed to work pretty well. I think it was faster than previous work I had done to .MOV files and seemed to play better both on the PC and on Vimeo. So, progress there.

It seems to be slower when bringing up an explorer window to Open an existing project, but there also seems to be stuff going on in the background so the delay may be PRE's usual slow startup.

One of the things about version 10 is that it takes longer to load the project and media, but once it is loaded everything is really much faster than previous versions.
