PRE 10 Two Titling Issues

Postby DrDtMM » Wed Mar 21, 2012 9:35 am

(1) In adding superimposed titles, it is sometimes useful to put an opaque/semi-opaque rectangle behind the text to make it easier to read. As far as I can tell, the ability to create rectangles of any size and color (but not variable opacity) exists, but when I have tried to use this feature, the rectangle appears in front of, rather than behind, the title text. There seems to be no ability to control this. It's hard to believe that this cannot be done as one would expect, and it's likely my shortcoming, but I'd appreciate being advised how to get the opaque rectangle behind the title text. Thank you.

(2) I typically need to add a list of credits (musicians in a symphonic wind ensemble). In the past I have used a sequence of still images to do this, but was pleased to see the PRE 10 could roll text. However, my list has 75-80 lines, while the rollable list that I seemed to be able to make with PRE 10 could have no more than 10 or so lines unless I used type so small that it is unreadable. Again, I'm probably missing something, but I'd appreciate help from anyone who is doing this successfully. Thank you.

Hi Dan & Welcome to Muvipix!

1. Right click on the rectangle in the titler and choose Arrange from the pop up context menu. Move to Back, etc.

2. If you need more text space, hit enter to add another line. It will build as you go. Since you have 70+ titles to add, I recall that someone on the forum was able to copy from a doc to the titler. Sorry, I don't remember who and I have never tried this.

Thank you very much. I was fairly sure that the problem was pilot ignorance.

Pilot Ignorance. I've been there many times, have to remember that phrase. :) I forgot to mention that to add more lines of text you need to select scrolling text first. Start off screen bottom and end off screen.

Found this thread on the Adobe Forum about copy & pasting from a Word Doc to the Titler:
