SVG?

Postby BuddyB » Thu Jul 24, 2014 7:55 pm

There's more and more talk about SVG in webwork and video editing. My question would be: Can you use .EPS files for the vector, or is there another way? Thanks my friends. :)

EPS and SVG are both scalable vector graphics formats. EPS uses the PostScript language encapsulated as a file and is typically used for print related applications. SVG uses XML to define the image and is typically associated with web related applications. You can certainly convert from EPS to SVG. There are plenty of online web pages that offer the conversion. If you have a vector graphics design program such as Illustrator, you can open an EPS file and save it in SVG format.

What is it you are trying to do, Buddy?

I don't have any experience with vector files in Vegas, but I do know it accepts Photoshop .PSD files, which I find tremendously advantageous.

Bob, thanks for the response. I want to begin using it when I do a webpage. And if possible I want to use it in Movie Studio 13. I use XaraX9 for my artwork, and to be honest with you I've not checked the "Save As" or "Export" to see if SVG is an option there; really know nothing about SVG and just became aware a short time ago. Kent, I wasn't aware of that. My Photoshop is CS2, pretty old. I will have to check and see about the compatibility. Appreciate both of you.

Xara should support SVG. But, I don't recall that Vegas supports any vector format. Generally, you would need to convert to a rasterized PSD or PNG file and import that.

If that's the case more than likely it'll show up in a future MS uprade. :) Thanks again for the clarification.
