A question about quantisation

Postby artsoul » Fri Jul 11, 2014 6:05 am

Hi folks,

Hope you are all well , I am using moviemaker 11 and am getting extremely frustrated. I am trying to move clips about and even though I have snapping on and quantise to frame turned off the cursor will not snap to sensible places ( ie bars and beats ).....this is compounded by the fact that the ruler seems to show random intervals...ie rather than straight bars or beats it will show increments that make no sense.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Probably not. If snapping is turned on, your clips should snap to frames, beats or other timeline divisions, depending on how closely you're zoomed in.

Have you tried zooming into your timeline more? I've found that the more I'm zoomed into the timeline, the more events seem to snap into exact positions.

Ah ok...thanks for the prompt reply.....I'm finding that even at full zoom it's flakey

I guess it depends on what exactly you're trying to do.

I've never had a problem getting frame accurate placement with any of my clips.

Have you tried turning on snapping but turning off quantize to frames?

You will be limited in any event to individual frames, of course. You can't cut halfway through a video frame, so your frame accurate cuts are limited to 1/30 of the second or so.
