BuddyB,
sorry to read that you have problems with HitFilm. Their tweets say "6000 downloads in less than 24 hours."
Maybe the servers were too busy?

Re: Movie Studio 13I may have a bug here in MS 13 - it doesn't want to render Loop Regions only it appears, it just keeps on going beyond the loop, even rendering pitch black (where the tracks have been muted past the loop). This occurs both from the 'Make Movie' options ( with 'Render Loop regions only' ticked) and also from 'Render to New Track'.
Any others have this problem? Is it likely to affect just one system, or would it be a general fault? Should I tell Sony somehow?
Re: Movie Studio 13You should of course. Tech support email options to be found here
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/sup ... upport.asp If this is 'a general fault', I'd expect other reports pretty soon. I made a couple of quick tests (to hard drive and new track), but could not replicate this as yet. Btw, SCS has a webinar (An Introduction to Movie Studio Platinum 13) on Jan. 30, 2014. You may have an email about it, if you allowed SCS to send messages to you.
Re: Movie Studio 13Thanks for the info about the webinar - will try and catch it I'll also try a couple more times and then report it to the link you gave. Thanks.
Re: Movie Studio 13Just wanted to update on my experience with MS 13 so far - my main interest was performance, and as I reported earlier working on the timeline and previewing when editing is a joy now in MS13. I have now finished my first project, and as usual I have output three versions - this is a 16 min video using clips from my Pentax DSLR (14.5mp) which shoots 1526x1080 .avi files at 23,000kbps, so it makes some very big files!
My versions are always as follows : 1) a DVD version, MainConcept MPEG 720x576, at 9800kbps, with 'two-pass' enabled & 'high quality' - this produced a file of 1.15gb 2) An internet version, AVC .mp4 1440x720 at 9000kbps, 'high quality' set - this file came out at 900mb 3) A high quality version for hard drive archiving, AVC .mts1440x1080 at 15500kbps, 'high quality' set - this came out at 2.2 gb All these versions included stereo sound at 256kbps Both the internet & DVD versions took 1hour 30 mins to render - an reasonable improvement for me. But the real test would be the high quality version, and this took 3hours 20mins. This is excellent for me as I have had videos of similar type take over 5 hours on the same computer. I don't know what others are experiencing - how do these times sound to you ? Are these output times OK do you think? So far so good One annoying thing - I can't find a selection tool, so I have to 'ctrl-click' lots of small events to move them together. There are large buttons at the bottom for normal edit & fade edit, but no selection tool Anyone got any ideas about this? I was struggling to select all the events without keeping on de-selecting and having to start again. Looking forward to hearing about others use of MS 13 so far!
Re: Movie Studio 13The Selection tool is now under the Edit menu, in the Editing Tool submenu.

Re: Movie Studio 13 Brilliant! Now I know why you're the guy who wrote the book Thanks, I'll explore those menus a bit more, I'm glad that tool is still available.
Re: Movie Studio 13You could also make use of the keyboard shortcuts you find in the submenu, at least until SCS gets around to putting back some of the buttons they unfortunately saw fit to hide into menus/submenus like Config.
Re: Movie Studio 13Shortcuts would be good - MS13 doesn't have them all covered under the editing tools menu - you can cycle through the tools with 'D', but oddly, this doesn't give you the fade tool. Still have to go down to the bottom toolbar for that. I can only assume they've tried to keep it simple for touchscreen use and only included the most common features for the 'big buttons'.
But I don't want to exaggerate the issue of access to tools and things - its just a normal learning curve, and overall the program looks and 'feels' even better. No one's menthioned it, so I'm guessing the rendering times I mentioned earlier are generally OK? Certainly I find them acceptable, and even quicker than Plat 11.
Re: Movie Studio 13I do believe I'm going to like 13 Suite. The only issue I have is that New Blue Titler, etc. will not install properly. NB even sent a so-called update version and it does the same thing as the one on the DVD. It makes Movie Studio freeze and Titler crashes as Movie Studio is loading. In Add/Remove Programs two of the same msrp file shows up. I'm waiting on an answer, but will more than likely not get it before Monday. The new interface is fine by me, a little cartoonish in appearance, but then again most software has gone in that direction.

Re: Movie Studio 13I agree with what you say about v 13, BuddyB. The NBTitlerEx seems to be problematic again. For compatibility reasons I don't try to install that myself any more, so I'm not able to check.
Did you contact NewBlueFX own Support direct (not Sony/SCS Support)? There's this thread on the SCS forum that you could read to see if you'll find something there. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/for ... eID=881937
Re: Movie Studio 13Thanks VK, will check that when I get home from work this evening. I will probably get a reply from NB Monday morning sometime on my latest repost. So far no good answers, but they're prompt in their replies. And I'd really like to be able to use Titler.

Re: Movie Studio 13FWIW, I actually had to uninstall the NewBlue Titler in order to be able to successful install version 13.
Sony seems to be slow divesting itself from its association with NewBlue and building its relationship with HitFilm, which makes a truly awesome effects program on par with After Effects. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Movie Studio 13Funny , with the materials in my Suite 13 there's a link to Hit Film for downloads of add-ons, but when I got there it said come back sometime in February to get the free downloads (not ready). Don't get me wrong I'm gonna' love the Suite 13, but it's a comedy of errors so far. No one is ready to get down to biz'. I'm a patient kind of guy, so I'm hanging in there.

Re: Movie Studio 13
Interesting...I never saw any link to HitFilm for any downloads in my order confirmation email. Maybe it's a package version extra? I guess the link refers to this announcement in the HitFilm site FAQs. http://hitfilm.com/faqs/view/43 Did you install your v 13 from the disc or the download? The download version does include a selection of about 7 visual effects plug-ins from the HitFilm collection. See my screenshot of those here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/50473571/MSP13HitFilmFX.JPG Do you see these plug-ins in your version? If not, check (in Help/About) if your v 13 build is older than the one in SCS site download updates (build 879/64 bit). Btw, if any of you downloaded HitFilm 2 Express, while it was free, and haven't used it because of the missing timeline integration, there's an update out now. http://hitfilm.com/software-update/hitfilm-2-express
