NewBlue causing crashes

Postby Susanna » Tue Nov 26, 2013 7:08 am

I'm trying explore the Media Generator window, but although I can see most of the presets, whenever I click on a NewBlue preset, the program crashes.
I have done all updates (haven't used he program for a couple of months), but this is still happening.
Anyone have any idea why?

Its sounds like the NewBlue plug-ins may have corrupted. Does this happen with every NewBlue effect or only the NewBlue Pro Titler?

BTW, have you gone directly to the nVidia or ATI site and downloaded the latest driver for your graphics card? This is the first thing NewBlue always recommends (and it often fixes the problem, believe it or not).

NewBlue is very good with support and they are constantly updating their software. You can try uninstalling the NewBlue Titler and installing the latest from this link.
http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Wind ... 130729.exe

If that doesn't work, you can try contacting NewBlue directly at http://www.newbluefx.com/support

As I say, their support is very good, and they will respond quickly with a link to the latest version and they will stick with you until the problem is resolved.

Thank you, Steve.
Driver is up to date.
It only seems to be NewBlue Titler, other NewBlue FX are working.
How do I uninstall just this?
Under Programs, I only see NewBlue VideoFX for Sony Vegas MSPPS, with an option to uninstall.
If I uninstall this, will I lose all the other NewBlue FX too? And how will I get them back?

You should see the program listed as NewBlue Titler Pro.

Susanna,
You seem to have the NewBlue TitlerEx for Sony (Vegas) Movie Studio Platinum, which has been somewhat of a PITA especially in the early versions. (As Steve may remember...)
The latest version is probably this http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Sony ... 130812.exe.

If you like to be on the safe side and don't want to try uninstalling and reinstalling, do what Steve advises and contact the NewBlue Support.
As Steve says, they're really of help most of the time.

Well, having checked specifications on my PC (see sig), it appears that I only have integrated graphics!
My local PC dealer (who also uses Sony Vegas) recommends I upgrade to a ZOTAC Geforce 610.
Any useful advice before I don the hard hat and venture inside the case?
Or any other recommendations?

Also, there appear to be two different downloads mentioned on this thread: one with the suffix 130729 and one with the suffix 830812.
Which is which and do I have to uninstall the original one first?

Uninstall the one you have and install the one with the higher number. That's the most recent version.

The 130729 is TitlerPro 1.0 for Vegas Pro.
The 130812 is The NewBlueSonyVegasMSPPS12setup14-130812.exe for Movie Studio Platinum 12 and includes TitlerEx.

Susanna,
it may well be that NewBlue Titlers do not work with integrated graphics. Check with the NewBlue Support.
And choosing the right card is a whole different ball game... Start a new thread if nobody comes along here for that.
This is from Sony site:
NVIDIA
Requires a CUDA-enabled GPU and driver 270.xx or later.
GeForce GPUs: GeForce GTX 4xx Series or higher (or GeForce GT 2xx Series or higher with driver 285.62 or later).
Quadro GPUs: Quadro 600 or higher (or Quadro FX 1700 or higher with driver 285.62 or later).
NVIDIA recommends NVIDIA Quadro for professional applications and recommends use of the latest boards based on the Fermi architecture.
AMD/ATI
Requires an OpenCL-enabled GPU and Catalyst driver 11.7 or later with a Radeon HD 57xx or higher GPU. If using a FirePro GPU, FirePro unified driver 8.85 or later is required.
INTEL
Requires an OpenCL-enabled GPU such as HD Graphics 4000.

NewBlueFX 3D Titling and Video FX requires either an NVIDIA or AMD/ATI graphics card. See above for details.

The text below (from NewBlue site FAQ) refers to Titler Pro.
Here is the graphics card requirements:
nVidia GeForce or Quadro card that supports CUDA with driver 285.62 or newer,
AMD/ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better with Catalyst 11.11 or newer
Intel HD is not supported.
