increasing volume beyond 6+, linking 2 audio tracks

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 9.

increasing volume beyond 6+, linking 2 audio tracks

Postby bsmiles » Wed May 18, 2011 8:29 pm

I am using some clips which have low volume. It appears on the details where one can alter volume,
that the maximum is + 6.

Can this be made even louder?

if I have more than one audio clip overlapping, can I link them so they cannot be separated and stick together,
also, combined together and linked with video?

that is, I have a video with narration already. I want to add music, but link it so it doesn't get separated by some accident.

You can make clips louder by adding the Volume audio effect. This will give you an additional Volume control in the clip properties. You can add multiple volume effects until you get to the desired volume.

Select the clips/audio that you want to group together. Right click and select the 'group' option. Voila! (I don't have PrEl but that's' how it works in PPro). :-D

Another trick I learned, I believe from one of Steve's articles is to put the same video on multiple tracks. Make sure that the start of all of the clips are aligned properly, otherwise a sync problem will be created. I have found that this technique has the effect of reinforcing each other and I found that you typically wind up with a better sounding volume increase on low volume recordings

You can also increase the gain of the original clip. Just right-click on the clip on your timeline and select Audio Gain.

If you manually fill in the gain level, you can change those numbers to whatever is necessary to boost your audio levels.

thankyou for all that, great!

Now, how to detect the beat of music. The beat tool is picking up the voices and not the beat.

Then, how to trim all my photo clips the same size (length of time) so that when strung together
they would be in step with beat. That is, to set up a rule so all the images would conform to the one rule for size????

I figure, once I have the right size, it should stay in rhythm.

Thankyou again
