Wedding Video HD clips taken with Canon DSLR EOS Rebel T2i, using built in microphone. Wind noise in several sections pretty much take over the audio. I tried the De-noiser and the New Blue noise reducer, but they didn't do much of anything for the wind noise and actually reduced some of the audio. There may not be much I can do about this as the noise is not an unusual high frequency that these tools look for, nor brief clicks etc.
Suggestions?
An external stereo mike is on my shopping list...

We see this question about every month, Don. And, unfortunately, there is no magic cure.
As far as your software is concerned, sound is sound, and it can't tell the difference between good sound and bad sound. Noise reducers and noise gates can be set to eliminate sounds of certain frequencies (like tape hiss or a background hum) but not something as general as wind noise. Particularly when the noise knocks out the main audio completely. That's why even Hollywood movies often "loop" or dub in re-recorded audio when a scene was shot in too much wind.
I wish I had more to offer -- but that's just the nature of it.

Sorry to say there isn't much you can do for wind noise Don. Some of the folks here really like one of the Magix products for editing audio, I'm sure someone will mention it. Don't know if it will work for wind noise though.
Does your camera have a headphone jack? It's worth using headphones during filming although there isn't much you can do about the wind anyway. A separate microphone is probably a good solution for the future.

I suspected as much, thanks.
I thought this would be a common problem, so I searched the forum first for "wind noise" then "wind" and got no pertinent hits. ??

I've used Magix Audio cleaning lab 10 and 11 for all of my videos. My students have to use headphones when viewing my videos and the hiss was very annoying. After cleaning up the videos with Magix the sound sounded professional through headphones. The last video I made I used Magix Movie Edit Pr0 17+ which has an audio cleaning plugin in it. It's not as comprehensive as the stand alone versions but it got the job done for my audio.

Make sure that you also buy a deadcat (no, not one of those; one of these! ). deadcat.jpg They really are effective at reducing wind noise.

John, you didn't knit that from your dog's fur, did you?

No. But true story - my dog did attack it with energy thinking that it was a live animal of some sort. Whilst we were in Sicily she was a great catcher of rats, ocellated skinks, gechos and snakes. We only knew that they were ocellated skinks when we found the remains and did a google look up to find out what they were before their demise! She also found a tortoise (they are native to Sicily and are protected). We think she thought it was a meat pie on legs. Kleio.jpg

What breed is she? Looks similar to a Husky, but the hair's much longer than the ones I'm used to. The eyes aren't Husky either.

She is a Siberian Husky, Dave. A present for my birthday a couple of years ago. You are right about the eyes. We could have had a dog with ice eyes but to my way of thinking they just look evil. The brown ones look much more 'gentle'. And the fur is longer than the breed norm, apparently. But she really is a sweetie and gets an enormous number of compliments. Good job she doesn't understand the compliments otherwise she would be impossible to live with.

Well she's certainly gorgeous John. Not sure I'd want to take care of that coat though. Our Golden Retriever is enough work for us.

She's beautiful, John. I had a Siberian Husky too, one ice-blue eye and one brown -- which is common for the breed. Mine had the traditional Siberian Husky coat and appearance. That coat required lots of brushing to keep it looking good. Wonderful pet, and a born hunter. I once watched her set motionless for hours at a gopher hole waiting for the gopher to appear. (FYI, She caught the gopher.) She passed away at the very old age of 16.
