Copy & paste between projects?

You won't be able to copy a clip in the project media panel to Clipmate.

Premiere Elements doesn't always use the Window's clipboard routines for all copies. Some copies remain outside the reach of Clipmate and are handled differently within Premiere Elements. That's why transitions don't make it to Clipmate in pre7 and earlier.

For the items you copied where you heard the pop and show as "Other" with a date and time are ready to be pasted back to Premiere Elements. You need to select an item in Clipmate, then change the focus back to the timeline in Premiere Elements and press CTRL-V. The item will be pasted at the location of the current time indicator (CTI). The acid test is to start a new project and try pasting an item.

The timeline panel needs to have the focus when you paste, not some other panel in Premiere Elements. There should be a thin blue line running across the top of the Timeline panel which indicates it has the focus.

If items wont' paste, you may have lost clipboard connection. There's an menu item in Clipmate that re-establishes clipboard connection: Tools > Re-establish Clipboard connection.

When you first open Clipmate and the item you want to paste is the first item in the list, you may need to select a different item first, then select the item you want to paste.

If all that fails, you may need to restart Premiere Elements and Clipmate.
