Syncing Audio?

Postby csgaraglino » Sun Mar 21, 2010 11:58 pm

Tomorrow I have a presentation that I will be converting to a podcast.
It's mostly audio and a PowerPoint.
I am going to use a 4 channel audio field recorder to record all the audio and I'll lay that onto the PP presentation, but I also want to shoot 5-10 minutes of video as well.

What is the best way to sync the audio with the video clips?
Warm regards,

One away would be to complete the synch in PRE then use the PRE export function to export the completed video and synch'ed audio.

Add the video and audio to the timeline, must use timeline view for this type of work.
You can move the audio to line it up with the video or vice versa.
When you get close you can start nudging the audio right or left one frame at a time by holding down the ALT key and then the right or left arrow key. Adding the Shift key will move the clip 5 frames at a time.

Did you have any specific questions about syncing audio and video Chris?

No specific question yet, I just wanted to make sure that I was not going to be shooting myself in the foot tonight when I record this.

Good thing is, this recording is not critical - mostly a learning tool, but this kind of work is in my immediate future and I would like to try and get as much right form the beginning as I can.

I edit wedding videos and there are at least 2 but sometimes 3 cameras for the ceremony.
I have to sync them all together, it isn't always easy but it is very possible.

The best thing is having the audio and video as one long clip. The ceremony can be an hour long but the camera guys never stop the tape, even if they move the camera. That makes syncing them together much easier, just have to sync them all is one place and the whole thing is lined up :)

Thanks, that makes sense, and since I found out that I can use $2 tapes, it makes it much easier to just keep it rolling in these rare cases where I have to do this.
