Not sure what to do... hehe

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 8.

Not sure what to do... hehe

Postby Ted » Tue Jan 05, 2010 8:34 pm

Hi all!

Well, I've read some reviews on PrEl 7 and PrEl 8 and I'm more at a loss what to do... lol

1. It's not that easy to even FIND PrEl 7... but Amazon has it for about $89. And that's doable...but the reviews state that the software isn't that great or stable... could it be that's because of the reviewers' computer systems?

2. I can get into Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM) for free, but it just doesn't have the features that PrEl has and, more importantly, it doesn't have this forum of such great helpers. :)

3. I can get PrEl 8 (the latest version) but the reviews aren't much more favorable and even here people aren't exactly gleeful of the software.

So, here I come to some trusted people for guidance... any suggestions?

I can offer my system if that helps...

Windows 7
Quad Core
8 Gigs RAM
Not sure what type of graphic card I have...but if you all can tell me how to find out, I'd be appreciative. :)

Thanks for any (AND ALL) advice. :)

I have Win7 and Prel7, no problems here. My 2 cents.

I value your two cents, Ron! :)

Mind if I ask what type of system you have?

I ask because I'm wondering if my system is BEEFY enough.

I've read others using Studio, but frankly, one reason I REALLY want the Elements to work is because of this forum. Knowing I have some place to vent my woes and know somebody will offer help without sounding condescending is VERY reassuring.

Maybe I should bite the proverbial bullet and just purchase PrEl 7! LOL!

Although I can purchase PrEl 8 for $65 through educators' discount!

The dilemna persists! ](*,)

Why not download the version 8 trial and see if it works on your system. I'd set a system restore point before installing to be on the safe side.

I have a Dell XPS 630i, Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q9650 3.0GHz, 4 GB RAM, 1024MB ATI Radeon HD 4870 and about 5TB HD storage.

I had a few (memory) issues when editing HD, but nothing I couldn't overcome. No issues whatsoever editing SD.

I have an HP with 4G RAM, 2.8GHZ Pentium 4 HT and am runing windows 7. PRE7 is very stable on my system.

The best test would be to get hold of a trial version to see if it works OK on your system.

I don't know where you can get a trial version now since PRE8 has beenreleased. Try googling.

Thanks very much, Bob, Ron, and Johnny. :)

Perhaps I will try a trial version of PrEl 8... I looked for a trial version of 7, but had no luck.

I learned how to set up a restore point, so if nothing else I gained a bit of knowledge! LOL! (thanks for the suggestion, Bob!)
