Specific to Premiere Elements Version 8.

I'm producing a video on greenway that runs along a creek (next to a freeway) in Southern Oregon, connecting a bunch of parks in 5 cities along a 30 mile stretch. I would like to have a menu that shows a map of the greenway, where you can click on various access points and see the video for that particular part of the greenway (or you can just watch the whole video, end to end).
Is there a way to create a menu with a map as a background image, where clicking on various points on the map will take you to the related part of the video?
Thanks!

You would be able to do that with DVD Architect Studio quite easily. You can also do that with Premiere Elements but not as easily. The best way would be to find a menu with the right number of chapter buttons, add the map background to the scene menu and then edit the button positions in Photoshop Elements.

Let me post another "plug" for Sony DVD Architect Studio. Inexpensive, and it will add a whole new set of tools for menu preparation and DVD structure. Highly recommended.

I'll give a third endorsement. $39.95 if you download it from the site. It's really a great supplement to any video editor!

How do you edit the button positions in PhotoShop? (I have PhotoShop CS2, if that makes a difference.) If you export the menu as a bitmap, and edit the bitmap, how will the buttons still be associated with the DVD markers?

You need to open the menu file, it is a PSD (Photoshop file). Then you edit the PSD and save it as a PSD, probably want to create a whole new menu and save it as a different name in a new folder. Steve has a Steve's Tips article on editing DVD Templates, it is a step by step guide. http://muvipix.com/products.php?subcat_id=7

Thanks, Chuck! I haven't received my copy of PE8 yet, but I'll try this as soon as I do.
