Discussions concerning Premiere Elements version 1 - 4.

I did a screen capture of a streamed audio/video over the weekend and imported it into PE3 for editing and I am hearing audio cracks in the audio occationally like the audio is too high. Is there a way I can fix this in PE3? I have tried playing with some of the audio effects in PE3, but I don't really understand them. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can try?

What did you capture with and what audio settings did you use in the capturing program (khz, bitrate, 16bit or 32bit). Did you check the audio levels as you were recording to make sure the levels were good?

I captured it with a program called Quick Screen Recorder. I set all the setting in the audio to be CD Quality even though what was coming down was not. I used 16bit i believe stereo.

How does it sound in Media Player or iTunes? We need to determine if it is a problem with Premiere Elements or the original file.

I hear the cracking in any application I play it in. So it is the source file not PE.

Are there audio meters in the program you are using to record the screen so you can see if it is going off the scale? Can you record it agian?
I don't think you can fix the audio in Premiere Elements but it is hard to understand exactly what is happening, can you post a sample?

No the program I recorded it with does not show me any volume metering. Unfortunately I can't re-record it off the site because it has been taken down. Basically to describe it I would say it sounds like your speakers cracking when the volume is up too loud. In my case the volume is not real loud. I thought it might be a quick and easy fix, so I am not going to waste too much time in trying to find a fix.
Thanks anyway!

Try this if you have Audacity;
Export the Audio Only as a WAV file from Premiere Elements, open the file in Audacity and use the Amplify effect to decrease the overall volume of the clip, save as a new file and import back into Premiere Elements. Put the new file on the timeline and see if that is any better. You shouldn't have to do any adjusting or syncing of the audio as long as you don't edit it in Audacity just add the effect.
