PE3 update?

Discussions concerning Premiere Elements version 1 - 4.

I re-installed PE3 from disc, which is version v3.0.2.

Where did the 3.0.2 disc come from? I was under the impression that the install disc only came in a 3.0.0 version and you had to install the 3.0.2 patch separately. I wasn't aware of a slipstreamed 3.0.2 disc.

Where? Gosh - I found it online about 3 years ago: the only vendor left in the UK retailing PE3, and I think that was the last copy. There were several editions on Amazon but they were bundled with Adobe Elelments on the same disc, this was the only straight PE3 I could find.

The box, insert and disc all state version 3.0 but it comes up as v3.0.2

Are you thinking this is an odd disc? Well anything's possible these days but why has PE3 worked nigh faultlessly on my XP for years then suddenly crashed please - I have edited entire mini movie projects with this software including DIY audio soundtracks - so why the crash? And it has also crashed on a separate Pentium 4.

This has shaken my confidence in Adobe edit software. I ran Pinnacle edit software for a long time, and that suddenly gave up the ghost as well, again there was no one reason you could point your finger at, one day it just stopped working. But Pinnacle used to crash all the time, I wasn't that surprised when the big crash finally arrived, that's when I swapped over to PE3. PE3 was ultra reliable compared to Pinnacle, this mega crash came totally out of the blue.

Thanks

It could well be that Adobe issued later install discs with the updated program on them.

If Help/About shows it as version 3.02, you're in, Ric!

I just opened up Premiere Elements 3, still have it installed on one XP computer.
Everything works fine. My computer has all the latest patches, updates, and drivers.
So it isn't a Microsoft update that is causing your problem. Would have to be a software conflict or a driver conflict of some kind maybe.

Thanks.

Well it's also possible the .02 patch is still on the XP from previous downloads so it automatically slots itself into PE3 as in v3.0.2

"software conflict" could well be.

Looks like Adobe 7 on the horizon for me anyway.

Thanks to all ;)
