Trouble exporting to Flash

Postby Ernie » Mon Jun 28, 2010 8:14 am

Hi,

I have been directed here from the adobe forums...

I have just started using Premier Elements 3.02 again after about 3 years. I am trying to export my film as Flash but when I click the export option I am told 'No Writer Available' whereas I can export to every other option. I am pretty sure I could export to Flash the last time I used elements?

Thanks in advance for any help!

My copy of version 3 still didn't have the 3.02 patch applied.
I tested the FLV export and all went well, I am now applying the patch and will see what happens then

Applied the patch and still exported the FLV with no problems Ernie.
Guess we will need some additional info to help.
What Flash option are you choosing? Have you tried them all?
Be sure to update your Flash Player and then let us know if that makes a difference.

Hi, Chuck. I've been working with Ernie on the Adobe forum. We've got this much to go on:

He's working on an XP computer on a network and does not have administrative privileges. He believes he has all of the Windows updates as well as the latest versions of Flash and Shockwave. I've also recommend he install the latest version of Quicktime.

Could not having admin privileges be keeping the Flash element from activating in Premiere Elements?

That is always a possibility. I am not having any problems at all, running on a large network with admin privileges on my laptop. Version 3 will export any type of FLV file with no issues what so ever.

Is the software/Premiere Elements 3.02 being run from a network server or locally on the machine? Where is Flash installed?

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome, blimey wasn't expecting quite that many responses :-D

The main problem is that when I click Export button, I get the option to export to DVD, MPEG, Flash Video, Quicktime and WMV. When I select Flash video, a new pop up window appears with option to:- Flash Video, Ipod, PSP and mobile, when I click on any of the options for Flash Video (Flash video 7 150k, Flash video 7 400k, Flash video 8 400k or Flash video 9 700k) I am told 'No Writer Found' in the Preset Description' box.

I am able to go online and active other modules and use them to export.

I have downloaded the latest versions of Quicktime 7.6.6, Flash Player 10 and Shockwave 11.5.

(I can get screen shots if any of that didn't make sense)

Once again thanks for all the responses

Hi Ernie,
Thanks for the extra info, that helps a lot.
Have you ever been able to export Flash Video?
Have you tried installing Premiere Elements again?

It sounds to me like it's looking for your CD burner for whatever reason. Maybe try updating the drivers for that drive? Just a wild guess.

Did you have any problems uninstalling Premiere Elements 3? After uninstalling Premiere Elements, make sure that the folder containing Premiere Elements\3.0 is also deleted. Sometimes if all files have not been deleted, the next installation may not work properly.

also, after the uninstall you should have to install the 3.02 patch again after the new install.
