Converting MP4 for PE

Postby AnnetteH » Wed May 12, 2010 1:50 pm

I recently downloaded some training videos that I am supposed to burn to DVD for my future reference, but they are in MP4 format. These files aren’t supported in PE. What can I do to put them on DVD?

Hi Annette,
MP4 is supported in versions 7 and 8 I believe, but considering you have version 3 we may need to find another way.

You could use Quicktime Pro, $30.
With Quicktime Pro you can 'Save As' DV-AVI and then import that into Premiere Elements.
You will probably find that the quality will suffer however, maybe a lot.

MP4 files can be very compressed and converting them can cause quality issues.

There are a number of free converters available, like Super. But according to the product info Super will convert to Mp4, not from MP4. I'm sure someone here has had this issue come up before and can provide some help, stay tuned :)

The free Prism converter can convert from MP4 to DV-AVI.
