DVD Chapters

Postby rhinox202 » Tue Apr 06, 2010 3:34 pm

I saw in another thread that in PE4 it is only possible to have a main menu and a scenes menu. I was wondering if it is possible to add chapters without them showing up on the scenes page? Thanks.

Welcome to Muvipix, Bob!

You can hack into the menu templates (they're PSD files) with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and remove the scene marker links. Then you can create a DVD with scenes but no links to them.

It's much easier with dedicated DVD authoring apps, of course. DVD Architect Studio, which is only $39 if you download it from the Sony site, has much simpler tools for doing this kind of thing. (We've even got a Muvipix Guide book on the program.)

You can also have a Auto Start DVD without any menus and still move between scenes.
You can also have main menu markers and the button will only show up on the main menu.
Steve has a great article on Menu Markers, worth reading for sure :)

Well I was hoping to be able to have a scenes menu with chapters and also have chapters that don't show up in that menu. I'm assuming from what was stated that it is either not possible or you haven't come across doing it. Maybe I'll take a look at DVD Architect. Thanks.

You can do what you are trying to do in Encore DVD but not in Premiere Elements. For every scene marker you have to have a scene button. Most likely DVD Architect is more like Encore DVD and will allow you to have scene markers that don't show up on the menu. But will allow you to move between them with the DVD remote.
