Rendering Problem

Postby boosaman » Fri Mar 26, 2010 9:21 am

Help!

I am working on a big montage, and suddenly I can't render the workarea. I have been putting in pictures, taking them out, adjusting, etc., and there are big gaps in the movie. However, suddenly when I render the work area, it does not render the whole movie; no matter what I do, certain areas are not rendered.

Please help!

Try exporting the timeline and saving it as an .avi. Then save the project and re-open it.

If re-opening the saved project doesn't work, you can start a new project using the previously exported timeline.

Thanks, John.

I will try this. Any reason why this would happen--that rendering the program would stop rendering the work area.

If I need to start a new project, I would just import the previously exported .avi file?

You can also try doing a 'Save As' and just give the project a different name. Then open the new project and see if the problem goes away.

If all else fails you can clear the cache and preferences, that should do the trick.
You can do that by

Paul LS wrote:Try starting Premiere Elements while holding down the LEFT Shift and Ctrl keys, this will flush the cache and preferences. Ctrl shift will clear the preferences but not the plugins cache which is in the registry. To clear the plugins cache press and hold shift while starting premiere elements.

Another thing to try is to delete your prefences folder in C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Elements\7.0 (delete the complete Premiere Elements folder) it will be rebuilt next time you start PRE. Note it might be a hidden file on your PC and so you need to go to into Tools>Folder Options>View and select Show hidden files and folders. Note that this folder also contains all your custom preset settings for projects, effects, and transition so these will be deleted as well.

Thanks, Chuck. I'd bet that I need to clear the cache. I still have trouble "getting media." When I tag pictures to input, the organizer does not grab all of them. I have to move them into Premiere manually using the project window.

There is also a Media cache that can be cleared, it is under the Scratch Disk Settings under the Preferences Settings Menu:

Edit/Preferences/Media/ then select "Clean".
