Whole VOB file does not import into PrE 4

Postby Kerrie » Tue Feb 23, 2010 7:44 am

I know I addressed this question some time ago. I am still having problem importing a VOB file (we taped it in a skills lab). I think the whole video is 30 minutes long. Only about 1 minute of the video will go into premiere 4.

Would it help to take the VOB file and convert it to a different file with another program and then try to import the different file to premiere?

Thanks!!
Kerrie

Was this taken with a DVD camcorder? Did they finalize or close the disc?

Bobby, I am on my way to work now, so will check what the equipment is used (the cameras are mounted in the ceiling, that kind of set up). I watched her finalize the video. I don't think any of the set up/equipment has changed. I have edited this videos for years. Just the last two we did, did I start having problems...

Not sure if it something to do with my program, or we did something different with taping. I can play the whole video on regular TV.

Kerrie, there is a way to put the VOB files together outside of Premiere Elements to eliminate this kind of problem. We can explain how to do that if there isn't any other answer. How many VOB files would be my question. Another option is to use MpegStreamclip (free program) to convert the file.

It does seem strange that you just started having this problem, something must have changed somewhere.

I was able to take the VOB file and convert it to Mpeg with Roxio. It loaded into premiere without any problem.

Just wish I knew why I no longer can take a VOB and drop it in?

Thanks for the help!!!!

Could it be that it's just that particular VOB, Kerrie?
