set group of stills to 1 frame each

Postby Rockdoc » Sat Jun 09, 2007 4:19 pm

Hi everyone,
I have a group of about 100 still frames that I would like to turn into an approximately 3 second video. Is there a way to set the duration of the entire group to 1 frame? Every time I select more than 1 file on the timeline, it greys out the time stretch option. Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely. Before you import the photos into Premiere Elements (be sure to do BEFORE you import the photos into your project or it won't take!), and open EDIT/PREFERENCES/GENERAL.

You'll find a spot on this screen to set your still duration, measured in frames. (There are 30 frames to second in NTSC, 25 frames per second in PAL.)

Then add the photos to your project and place them on the timeline in the order you want them to appear.

I would use jpgVideo. It's easier.

Use the Create Slideshow feature in Premiere Elements where you can specify 1 frame duration for each still you have selected in the media bin. You'll have to zoom in pretty far on the timeline to make sure the clips are acutally there after using the slideshow command.

Thanks Guys! The Create Slideshow method is definitely the easiest. When I get a few minutes to play with the options some more, I will post what I am doing. It could turn out to be a nice effect - zooming into locations in a pretty, smoothly controlled way. I know a few others are were interested in this topic back on the Adobe forums a while ago, and I may have come up with a better (and free) way to do it. :)

I am happy to share. I am working like crazy on a presentation for work at the moment, but as soon as I get a few minutes to work out the kinks, I will definitely post what I am doing here. Hopefully I can get to it by this weekend!

Bob (and other interested parties),
I will post what I have figured out tonight. I have been swamped trying to get something else to work (semi-related to this issue), and making a presentation. I'm really not trying to keep you salivating, and I didn't forget. I just wish I had more hours in the day.

I was just kidding with you about it being weekend. Take your time Jennifer. There are other priorities in life than video projects.

Oh but I would just love it if there weren't other priorities for a little while! :)
