adobe shuts down

Postby slushparlor1 » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:34 am

Has anyone seen this? I have a slide show that contains still photos and .avi's from various things. All the video runs smoothly until it gets to one .avi file and then adobe just shuts down. No warning, nothing. Could it be the file? It's taken from a video camera and I captured it right into preimere. I have many other .avi's in the production and none causes this. ](*,)

Can you play this file with Windows Media Player? That might tell you if there is a corrupted file there.

The next thing I would try is opening a new project, importing that file, and playing it in the timeline in the same way that you are running into the problem with the other project. It's possible that the .prel file is corrupted at that point. Unfortunately, you may have to redo your project this way...

I would also check to see what codec that AVI is using. Some codecs (Divx for instance) can be trouble for this program.

Here's how to check:

Remember, this program works best with AVIs using the DV codec.
