APE4 - Video Preview Error

Postby westport1992 » Mon Feb 18, 2008 11:19 pm

Hello There:

Because of burning problems (resolution size too big) I am going through a project I've been working on for awhile to
delete the high resolution pictures and replace with lower resolution. (Steve: Next time around I sure will take your
advise using Photoshop Create Slideshow Feature and ensure resolution is reduced before starting).

However I have invested so much time on this project in APE4 that I am changing each of 360 pictures ...

I have encountered an Error Message that says: "Video Preview Error - Error Compiling Movie - out of memory"

What now? Any suggestions, step by step to see me through this task? I have to do at least another 200 pictures
before this arduous task will be completed.

I'll look forward to your wonderful advise once again.

Thank you - Debi Koebel, Hanover, Ontario Canada

Debi, could be you are running out of hard disk space.
How much free space is left on your drive(s) and have you defragmented them lately?
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

You may also want to go into Premiere Elements Edit/Preferences and clear your Media Cache before you attempt another DVD burn.

In fact, I might recommend you do a Save As and save your project with a different name before you try your next DVD burn (after you've down-rezzed your photos, of course). This will keep the newly encoded files from bumping into the old ones.

Though, as Chuck says, there's no substitute for lots of free space on your hard drive and frequent defragmentation. In fact, I recommend this regular maintenance just to keep the "invisible" junk files from dirtying up your computer.
