export file type

What is everyone's opinion on the exporting to file. I know DV is what you want to use for backup, but what about just playback on your PC? Should I be using windows media or MPEG? What preset do you most of you use?

It depends on what kind of results you are looking for.
As a good quality copy of a project to view on my computer I export as DV-AVI (File/Export/movie).
If I am going to put it on the web I use FLV and for most other purposes I use Windows Media at the default DSL setting.

Saving all those DV files, you must have some large hard disks.

I just tried to export to windows media and i get the error "writer not found!". Any idea what is causing this?

A 1 hour project (never do a single project longer than 1 hour) will take 13gb of space, not bad.
I have 9 external drives for storage, over 2.5TB all together and I am always looking for deals on hard drives :)

I have heard of that error before, recently even. I can't remember if there is an answer however, I will try to find the posts.

Anything important is still on tape, and some of the 2.5TB is for backups ;)
