Can you try exporting to DV-AVI and then importing that into a new project and try burning to a folder from there. Don't do any editing or anything else, just import the clip, drop it on the timeline, no markers or anything, and try to burn the project to a folder.
Seems to be every project so far (the original and the test one we are working on). I did capture the exported DVI, and got the same thing. Now here is a kicker. If I get the error message, and just move it out of the way, I can go ahead and burn to my folder anyway. In fact, the project is burning as I type this and I am looking at the error message box...

I've heard of this happening before, maybe someone reading this will remember what the details were and where the post is. I do think that you will not have a problem except you will have to close the application at some point. But your file should burn just fine

Well, after consulting with the Adobe tech support, they had me use msconfig from Start - Run, and disable all the non Microsoft startup processes, and the problem went away.
After re-enabling them one by one, it seems that there is a conflict with Adobe Active File Monitor V6. I thought it was Spyware Doctor at first, but I was mistaken. I will be letting Adobe know about this.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Hope this thread helps someone else.

I found this thread on the Adobe PE user to user forum: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c054044It suggests that PE has conflict issues with Roxio, so I removed Roxio from my Dell pc (Roxio came with the pc) and so far, the problem has not re-occurred.

I have just moved to a new HP pc, with Roxio 9 preinstalled. I haven't created any disk with it yet, but am now concerned... will try that soon (probably tonight).
I will need something to burn CDs & DVDs, so am reluctant to remove Roxio. Any other suggestions short of removing Roxio ?
Regards, Alain

Roxio isn't a problem on everyones machines, just some. Best thing to do is test everything with a small 5 - 10 minute project that includes video and photos.

If Roxio interferes, it's generally Drag-to-Disc that's doing it. Don't start Drag-to-disc and make sure it isn't in your startup folder.

I used premiere with no issues on my new computer, new Vista, new Roxio with no issues.
Thanks for the tip - I won't use drag to disk.
