The OP said that once he deleted all of the temporary files and rebooted, that particular problem (sounds similar anyway) went away. Can you try that for troubleshooting? Meanwhile, I'll keep thinking.

I've tested these E-books at length on the different OS's and never had these problems. May just be an incompatibility issue with a setup/driver? or something... guessing.

Hey Ron, Happy 4th! img0450

Tried everyting and still cannot open the blue books!
I even tried selecting Open when select to download file and nada.
Shows progress of download from site, the open zip file, says launching, but never does.
Just get the red book in system tray. ](*,)

Just wanted to update you.

Cheers,
Cary

Hi Cary,

I still haven't given up on this. Download this file and unzip it to a directory of your choice. Then, navigate to that directory and execute 'startCD.exe' and let me know if the E-Book opens and is functional.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for not forgetting about me.
Followed your instructions: unzipped and executed startcd.exe; nothing happened. :(
Guess you gotta go back to the drawing board. LOL

Thanks,
Cary

PS:

If I navigate to this subdir: ebook\FlipAlbumCD\Albums\DVD Menu_opf_files
I can open the individual jpg files and view them that way.
I especially love portrait.jpg (Steve's pic)! Now I can have him as my windows background.

Cary

Ron,

Also, when I open any of the jpg files, they open with Windows Pic & Fax Viewer and I can navigate to all the pages.
The forward, back buttons will allow me to view the book. Make sense?

Cary

Well, I've been making these E-Books since 2003 and I have never come across this issue before. We do know that it's your computer and not my technique :)

Next: Do you have any unusual (for lack of a better word) software running in the background that may be preventing certain programs from executing? What Anti-Virus do you run (and maybe try disabling before launching the E-Book)? Any Spyware programs? If you could, provide me a list of these background processes and maybe we can figure out which one is causing the fail. You could also try opening your Event Log and see if there are any unusual errors related to the FlipAlbum Viewer (Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Event Viewer).

We'll get this thing to run.
Regards,
-Ron

LOL Chuck.

Ron,
I do not have any of the mentioned software running. When I execute flipbookcd.exe, and look at processes list, it is on there as running?
The only events in event log are as follows:
Application; Security; System; ACEEventLog; IE; MS Office Diag; MS Office Sessions.
Hope this helps.
I will keep trying until we figure this out. Thanks for helping me.

Cary

(Digging up old bones)
Steve's important flipbook "ADVANCED KEYFRAMING p2" downloads but will not open for me. Tried redownloading, etc. Windows Vista message is: "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements - 64 mb ram" ... but I've got 4 gig ram on an efficient late model VAIO laptop.

Anyone else? Does this smell like vista or a flipbook issue? (Pertains to this individual flipbook only)

...thanks in advance

I'm wondering if the 64MB RAM error message is referring to video RAM?
