Presets

Postby Bubby Grub » Fri Aug 05, 2011 12:52 am

Hi Guys
Sorry this is certainly a dumb question, and I should know better, I do but unfortunately right at this stage I have no idea where if I save a preset does it go.
As what presets I have used need to be transferred to another computer. I have done this numerous times before, but I am certainly having a bad moment.
I just can't remember Help Please.
Cheers

In Win 7 the default path is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0\Presets

assuming that the program is loaded on your C: drive. In the Presets folder there are a number of subfolders by preset type. Look for your custom presets there. I would think you could also just copy the Preset folders en masse as long as there are no previous custom presets with the same name on the second computer.

Thanks Dave.
That's exactly where I thought it should be, but it's not.
I've searched all the folders, but nothing.
I'll try doing a search on the drive, but I'm sure I tried that.
Anyway, thanks again . . . any more suggestions?

Here's an article which describes the process for retaining custom presets during an uninstall/reinstall. Although this is not what you're doing, it gives the paths and names for the custom presets and should apply. If this isn't helpful maybe someone else will chime in.

One thing to remember is if the presets are saved in the folder where your program is in, you will lose all of your presets if you uninstall & reinstall. This happened to me when I was using PrEl3. I now have folders in a separate location for my presets. If you do a uninstall & reinstall you still need to import the presets into the program.

BG, not sure if this will work....save a preset in your program and make note of where it is being saved. Then navigate to that folder and the others should be there.
