Convert MPEG to WMV

Postby stefan » Mon May 02, 2011 4:05 pm

A friend has asked for my help in converting video recorded on a Panasonic SDR-S26 to WMF so that they can edit it in Windows Movie Maker. They have issues when they try to edit the source files in Windows Movie Maker.

I brought the mpg files into Premiere Elements 7 ok and can export to WMV. I can't seem to get the ratio width /height correct. The width looks too narrow in Premiere.

I believe the source files are 704 x 576

I have the source files on my hard drive copied from a USB stick.

I'd appreciate advice as to what settings to use when I create the project, any changes I need to make to the scenes after bringing them in. And if I need to use any specific settings when exporting.

Hi Stefan,
Are you using a stanard definition Widescreen project to start with?
Looks like the camcorder records standard definition widescreen video.
You would need to select a WMV SD Widescreen export as well.
If this is USA then it should be NTSC SD Widescreen otherwise PAL.
