magazine interview

Hi Guys,
I am using PE7 and still learning AE, and I am needing some advice, suggestions etc. Hopefully I can explain what I need, and get it across.
I am doing up a DVD in memory of my brother for the family, and what I have is a magazine interview that was done with him many years ago. I will have to
re-type it, as you can understand with age it has deteriorated. What I would like to do, is some how use a couple of photos plus the type and have it interesting enough
to make people want to read it. It is a fair few lines so type on the screen or rolling type would be too boring and uninteresting. I was thinking of maybe having
the type appear gradually along with photos moving. I hope this has made sense, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you get an actor to read it voice over? A free talented actor shouldn't be hard to find if there is a college near you.

Charles has a great idea. Remember, video is an audio and visual medium, so use them both.

Have actors reading the interview and have pull quotes (selected things he said) fade in and fade out over the photos as they're heard on the soundrack. It should make a terrific presentation!

Thanks for the suggestions, but the family would probably prefer me to keep it personal no actors. I will be doing some narration as I was
his only sister. I will keep thinking maybe I may try something in AE, I have watched a lot of Cheryls work, and have had a couple of ideas come to mind
just remains to be seen if I can make it work. I am still open to any further suggestions, if anyone has any.

Bubby, I think you should reconsider Charles' idea. I've done a fair amount of both methods, and found that going to a voiceover solves a multitude of problems. People find it much easier to listen while they look at the visuals than to try to read at the same time. I don't think it's necessary to have someone with a formal "actor" title. Anyone who's a reasonably smooth and natural-sounding reader will do. Is there anyone in your family who could do this for you, preferrably male since the subject is your brother? Or maybe a friend? I think the suggestion is a good one and worth giving a second thought. Good luck with your project.

I like the narration by a male idea too. And add the quotes here and there. My family doesn't like to read lots on screen. If you have older viewers they need more time to focus on the photos and then adding a lot of words, well your slides could be very long. A videographer from Vimeo told me his rule on text is to have it appear for the amount of time to read it 2x.

Having the words on screen while they are being read to the viewer would be the preferred method. Makes it easy on the viewer, especially when it is a long article.

It doesn't have to be an actor, use a family member with a nice voice
