Disc Menu

Postby svmike » Tue Mar 16, 2010 5:21 am

Hi guys, I have just completed a project and found that I can't add a disc menu. I can see all the menu options but nothing happens when I try to drag it across to the preview window. This has been working fine in the past. Any ideas please.Cheers, Mike

Hi, svmike. Welcome to Muvipix!

What happens if you select the menu template (it will be highlighted in the Disc Menus panel) and then click Apply? (Note that some menus -- particularly those that include audio and/or video can take a couple of minutes to fully apply.)

Hi Steve, yes I have tried using 'apply' as well as drag and drop but nothing happens. Is there any way the disc menus could have become corrupted.

It's not likely, if you can see them. It's also not likely that they would ALL be corrupted.

So the first thing to check is if this problem is unique to the template you're trying to use or if you can not apply any templates to your project.

If it's the latter, I'm not sure what's going on.

I have tried various templates and no success with others either.

Steve, I have just noticed that after I try to add menus and then close the program, it asks if I want to save it, which would seem to indicate that something is happening, just that nothing shows in the preview window. I have also tried adding menus to another project and again no luck.

Wow! You've sure got me stumped! I supposed you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. That could fix any corruptions. (You won't lose any work in progress.)

Or we can troubleshoot it.

You say you can not get the menus to work on any project? Do they all use the same source video? What type of camcorder is your video coming from and how did you get it into your computer?

Also, can you tell us about your computer specs? What's your operating system, how fast is your processor and how much free, defragmented space is on your hard drive(s)?

Hi Steve, I have tried a repair from the cd which has not helped.
It is not the same source video and I upload via firewire from mindv.
Running Vista home premium on an Acer pc; amd dual core 3800+;3gb ram;30gb free space on C drive and an external drive where the files are stored with 96 gb free.
I think perhaps you are correct in suggesting a clean reinstall, especially if as you say, I wont loose any projects.

At this point, I'm not sure what else to recommend, sv. Sorry.

Meantime, make sure you've got the latest version of Quicktime and be sure you C drive is defragment. With 30 gigs free, you're just getting to the point where fragmentation on the C drive can choke Premiere Elements' basic functions.

Hi Steve, just to let you know, I have uninstalled/reinstalled PE and all now working fine. Thanks for your help and we can all remember it for next time even if we don't know what the cause was. Cheers, Mike

As we often say, the only solution that matters is the one that works! Glad to hear all is well, sv!
