PC TO CAMERA TRANSFER

Postby Cope This 719 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 7:48 pm

I have been having a lot of trouble transfering edited footage (about 60 mins ) from my Premier Elements 7 to my Canon HV30. I have tried all sorts of different things from disconnecting screen savers, internet connection etc bur all these efforts come to a stop with an error message "CHECK DV/DHV CONNECTION" This message appears between 4 and 9 mins.

Is anybody having this sort of problem and if so could you tell me how to rectify this problem

A very warm welcome to Muvipix John.

Have you noticed if when this message occurs the timeline has stopped playing back? There were issues of PE4 and PE7 sometimes just stopping during playback. Or does your timeline playback continue and you see this message.

Thank you Paul for your warm welcome,
My problem occurrs during the 2 to 10 mins from the commencment of footage. My Canon HV30 shows the error message while my Vista running PC just keeps on going.
Any More questions feel free to fire away

Ummm... sounds like a potential hardware issue. Have you tried a different firewire cable? Although I am not sure why it should give problems after a few minutes of use. I hope it is not your camcorder.

Also do you have any other video editors you can try to upload the HDV to camcorder... see if it is an issue with PE7.

Could this be a background process kicking in, such as a virus scanner. I assume you have the obvious things turned off like a screen saver.

Thankyou Paul & Dave,
I have listed some of the things that I have done to get my problem solved

Here is a list of the various remedies that I have tried in order to be

able to record HD information back to tape in my Canon HV30

Disabled USB Hubs

Tried both old and brand new tapes.

Disabled internet connection

Disabled Web Cam

Disabled screen saver and background picture and sidebar.

Replaced Firewire Cable with new one.

All of these have been done in order to be able to transfer footage from

computer using Adobe Elements 7 to my camera Canon HV 30.

The error that occurs is to check hdv/dv connection. This occurs between

3 and 10 minutes after transcoding starts.

System Vista

II have now purchased a copy of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9. I am using this in the following manner.
Download Elements movie into Vegas then save movie back to Canon HV 30. This works but I'm not sure if the original quality (HDV) is still preserved. In doing this I have established that there is no problem with my camera or the Firewire cable, Just damn x*&%#@ Elements 7 which apart from saving back to camera is a great program.

I would appreciate it if you know of any other steps that I can take to get Elements to write back to my Canon HV30

Kind Regards Guys
John :pull: :-D

This may not make any difference but may be worth a shot to completely eliminate the 'background process startup' issue.

Download EndItAll and use it to close off all background processes (remember to disconnect from the internet first just to be on the safe side).
