Section of Music track disappears

Postby boggy » Wed Dec 16, 2009 4:37 am

Hi All

Hope someone can help with this weird problem I'm having.
I have a short 6min AVI movie sitting on the timeline which I'm trying to burn to DVD at highest quality via the Share option. This appears to be a success and the disc plays back on the PC beautifully, however the problem arises when I view the disc on my TV - the music track goes silent for a couple of minutes halfway through!
How could this happen when all the info is actually on the disc?

Any thoughts, guys?

Very odd... is the silent reion repeatable... ie when you play the DVD is it in the same place? Also have you tried it on another DVD player?

Yes, Paul, it always occurs in the same place and also on other players. Very strange! Have I defeated all of our experts?

The fact that it's not a problem when you play your DVD on your computer but is a problem when you play it in your DVD player would seem to indicate that it's a media problem. Cheaper discs (like Memorex) are notorious for providing uneven quality, and that can stymie your DVD player.

A good brand, like Verbatim, doesn't cost significantly more, but provides much more reliable quality, and could well remedy your problems.

Thanks, Steve, although I don't think that's the problem. I'm using Verbatim DVD-R as a matter of course.

What speed are the discs? Some of the faster discs can cause problems when burned at say 16x
One great reason to go with a program like ImgBurn or DVD Architect, you can set the burn speed manually.

Have you tried burning another copy, could just be a one time fluke.

Is the original audio WAV or MP3?

It still might be worth burning a fresh disc, boggy. Usually if a disc plays fine on your computer but not on a DVD player it's because of a problem with the disc itself.
