Best purchase for use with Adobe Premiere

Best purchase for use with Adobe PremiereI've tried using Premiere with an older computer that only has an 1.81 Ghz processor speed. Of course, after having some difficulties I spoke to technical support which explained that the minimum required would be in excess of 2.0 Ghz. The question is, in purchasing a new computer for the purposes of running Adobe Premiere which is most important to consider, the type of processor or the speed? For example would you purchase a 2.5 GHz with an Intel Core i3-370M or a 1.73 GHz with an Intel Core i7-740QM. Should I consider AMD vs Intel? Are GHz readings more important than the Core readings? Please help, I'm OK with the program but need advice re: the computer.
Re: Best purchase for use with Adobe PremiereHi, pauleni. Welcome to Muvipix! It's nice to have you join our community.
When it comes to computers, power is power. The number of processors is important (i7 are quad-core processors), as is the speed of these processors. Whether it's an Intel or an AMD processor is less important -- although Intel seems to have become the industry standard and a good, safe bet. Our Moderator, Jack, posted a terrific article on what you can expect for the price in our Computers forum. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8015 And Muvipix co-founder Chuck listed his recommended power specs for video editing. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1640 Technology changes fast, though -- so what Chuck listed as top-of-the-line in his article would actually be a pretty good system for today's AVCHD and hi-def video editing.
