extracting portions of an image as a unit

Postby irispix » Sat Sep 25, 2010 1:56 pm

I have a photo of a bike and want to just select the wheel to use it in premiere pro countdown clock.
My idea is that the wheel will rotate at countdown.
BUT I don't know how to select the wheel, import ... etc etc etc :-(

Do you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?

You'll need to open the photo in one of these programs and double-click the background layer in the Layers palette to make it a layer. Use one of the selection tools to select the area around the wheel that you want to remove and delete that, then save the file as a layered PSD. (I take you step-by-step through this process in my book "The Muvipix.com Guide to Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements" by the way.) This saves the file as a non-square graphic -- your wheel will not square background.

Once you have that, import it into your video project and use Rotation keyframing to create the spin for it.
