When you do hear from ADS the first thing they will ask you to do is to capture with WinDV and see if the same thing happens. You might as well get that out of the way and give it a test now.

Last night I tried using P Elements with the ADS Tech A/V Link, it went negative at 37 minutes.

Today I tried using a simple Instant DVD Copy by Pinnacle and it went negative at 48 minutes.

So the problem is ADS A/V Link. Think it needs a update if available? ADS Tech has still not answered my request for help...

I'll be looking for a new analog to digital converter, any recomendations????

You still need to try it with WinDV if you haven't don that yet Bishop.
Before ADS Tech will fix the Pyro you will need to do that test anyway.
It is slightly possible that WinDV will not go negative on you. It is a very small program that captures video via Firewire, that's all it does and it does it very well. I use that rather than Premiere Elements or any other software for video capture.

Any of the Canopus converters are excellent.

Still no answer for me from ADS support, but I did take the time to read all the post on the ADS Tech forum, and got very surprised at the 85 % Negative responses by users requesting help from ADS.

I had already began to look for another ADs unit but now I'm looking for a different brand of A/V link.

I'm giving up on my ADS unit. With out the sellers support for a product, the users suport for the products fails.

The next step up, and logical alternative for the PYRO would be the Canopus ADVC110, or ADVC300:

More expensive, but a solid product and known for good support. I've personally been using the 300 for several years with excellent results.

Here is a link to the Canopus ADVC300 model at the Amazon Muvipix Store

Purchases through the Muvipix store help support the site.
We also have many affiliate merchant links that also help support the site every time you make a purchase;

I don't think you can purchase from the Grass Valley site anyway Dave, just like to make sure everyone knows that they can help support the site by just making a purchase they were going to make anyway.
Doesn't cost them a cent more and it helps Muvipix all at the same time. Thanks for the additional plug :)

With all of the members here I would think that our affiliate commissions would be a big help. Unfortunately I think many people forget about the Muvipix links when they go to make online purchases. If everyone used the affiliate links we could probably cut the membership fee in half.

Re: PYRO Link failure or Premiere Pro error

Hold on, I made a few changes in the setup of Premiere Pro and the ADS Tech A/V Link, and so far I've completes 2, two hours videos complete without the unit going to negative.

Very minor changes.

#1, I changed the DV setup from ADS as the Device of choice, and selected "Generic" instead.

#2, I changed the setup below that to Alternate1, last night. That's all.

I went to sleep on the idea and today I tried Premiere Pro again and it has not failed to do the job.

I don't know why it didn't work as ADS as my device, but I wanted everyone here to know you all gave me the guts to keep trying different options.

So if any one else has their system going "Negative," give these options a try.

Thanks again, I think I'm back in business!!

Well if it is working now you probably don't even need them anymore :)

The change you made must have fixed the problem. I have mine set to ADS and haven't had a problem but that's on my system. Way to go Bishop, glad you got things working. If you can get 2 hours without a problem I'm sure you are home free !!
