Do you only have one timeline Cheryl?
How many markers? How close together are they?

I don't know why you are getting that error but as for tutorials to get you up to speed and using ENcore I find the Lynda tutorials excellent. It's usually about $25 per month to join but you can watch as many tutorials as you can in that time and they have sooo many programs, all the Adobe and more. You might even get a 30 day trial when you register your products.
Happy Editing,

I watched the Lynda tutorials. The building process is not a problem, understand that. The test project is less than 5 min long with 3 markers. Will make a few other test projects for process of elimination and will post my results.

I have read most extensively at the adobe user forum and this seams to be a common problem. Others have tried various things and work arounds. Have a few ideas of my own.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Tests:

1. PrPro Project & encore slideshow - 3 chapters & menu item with- main menu & sub menu
2. PrPro Project only - 3 chapters - main menu & sub menu
3. PrPro Project tanscoded to Mv2 before import - same as #2
4. DV-Avi file created in PE3 - main menu only
5. video clip w/no edits - no menu
6. video clip w/no edits - main menu
7. PrPro project saved as AVI in PrPro - main menu

Tests 5 & 6 worked! Which used a video clip. Seems there is a problem with files that have been made into a format using PE3 & PrPro.

Used only static menus, read that there could be a problem with them. Edit: Motion menus may have a problem.

Now what?

Hi Cheryl,

Not much help but just thought I would chime in!

I also use Encore CS3 with Premiere CS3. I have had no problems with it and my latest wedding project is huge.
It has various menus, motion menus, samples, and a couple of other extra things thrown in :)

I do not use any format appart from AVI files which have been exported from Pro 1.5 & CS3.

One thing that I try to do is to turn all other applications off. That includes Anti-virus and anything else I can find.
My hardware devices should really be updated but with having no serious problems I think I iwll hold off from performing such tasks.

Agaiin, not much help but just wanted to let you know that I am also using Encore and the way I use it.

Cheers,
Lee

Cheryl,
Have you downloaded the Encore project in our Products section?
Maybe you could give that a try, the Ribbon menu templates.
Let me know how that works for you.

Thanks Lee & Chuck. Don't think it has anything to do with menus. My post should have read that the static menus had no problems, but the motion menu ones have...per the adobe user forum.

I will contact support at adobe and see if anything helps. Per the adobe user forum: 1. many have contacted and could not fix the problem. 2.Some files did work when encoded in a 3rd party program. 3. Works for some people and not others. 4.This must be a transcoding problem in Encore.

This may be a shot in the dark and Lee got me thinking about other apps running....does a video card make a diff when transcoding?

What format are the motion clips? Are these standard menus and motion clips that come with Encore?
The Ribbons Menu has a motion menu, the motion clip is wmv, as all the motion menu clips I have ever seen for Premiere Elements or Encore. If anyone is trying to use another format for the motion clip that could be the problem.

The adobe forum was referring to the motion menus that come with Encore.

This is a shot in the dark.
Do not use MP3s in the audio part of motion menu's.
I find Encore does not like MP3s.
Thanks
Richard

Good suggestion Richard, all of mine are WAV files.
You can convert the MP3s to WAV with Audacity.

Cheryl,

I'm using MPEG (M2P) format files for my motion menus along with WAV files for audio!
No problems with Encore using these.

How large is your project and do you think you could upload it somewhere, so that we could try it and see what results we get?

My test projects are about 3 min to 4 min long. PrPro project was a motion background, random pics, and the matte luma piece. The other files I used in testing was the 30 sec Clone DV-AVI file and the 3 min Birthday Muvipix DV-Avi File.

Don't know how to upload a project and zip. So need step by step instructions.

I did uninstall and reinstall last night and still same problem. It stops transcoding on the second pass at the last frame. At least the error reads that point in the timeline.

Sent a support case to Adobe yesterday and haven't heard back yet.

What I was thinking of if, Chuck, Steve or Ron could arrange some space so that you could load your project over to Muvipix.
( depending on file size), a few of us who have time could then download and take a look at running your project on our machines, just to see what happens and get a deeper look into things!

Does anyone know of any free web space that has an FTP function?
Cheryl, could you test the same project on another machine nearby, which would save all the hassle of uploading such a project?

Even saving it to a DVD and taking that same project to a friend and use that PC could give you some answers :)

Lee very good suggestions. More testing:

Looked at test 5 since that worked using a video clip and looked at all of the settings.

On test10, used a short AVI clip made in PE3 named clone, used the exact settings as test 5. The test has no menu and settings as follows:

Prop panel for timeline: End Action: Stop and Menu Remote: Stop
Prop panel for Disc: First Play: clone,chapter1 and Title Button: clone,chapter1 and Main Timeline: clone

In the Build progress chart: Top bar is 'transcoding' bottom bar is first transcoding video clone, transcoding audio clone,

The next step in the progress window: Starting project w/bar 1/2 and the bottom bar 'planning video for movie is near end then stops with the error.

Look back in the asset window and the clone.avi not reads that it is transcoded. So deleted timeline and put a new timeline with the transcoded avi . The build progress jumps to the starting project since the item is transcoded and then stops with the same error which has the min;sec;frame and that is the end of the timeline.

As for zipping up the project, you would not have my assets and that would not work.
