5900 rpm external USB Seagate drive fast enough?

Postby tjodork » Fri Jun 03, 2011 4:06 pm

I have a ton of 8 mm tapes that I'm going to be converting to avi files.
I plan to use winDV software.
Would a 5900 RPM drive with 32M cache and USB2 interface keep up with saving the data from firewire from my camcorder ?
Note the drive is USB3 but I don't have USB3 on my computer.

The drives is a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB USB 3.0 Black USB 3.0 Kit External Hard Drive STAC2000103

it will be fine for capturing the tapes, wouldn't leave the files on there for editing though.
